Hand Foot Mouth disease


It is due to the Coxsackie A16 or entetrovirus 71. It is characterized by prodrome of low grade fever, malaise, and abdominal pain or respiratory symptoms. Frequently 5-10 painful oral ulcers are present, leading to refusal to eat. Skin lesions begin as macules or papules which progress to transient vesicles that heals without scaring. The hands and feet are involved.
