Meningocele and Myelomeningocele

A meningocele is formed when the meninges herniated through a defect in the posterior vertebral aches or midline neuraxis. The spinal chord is usually normal. Myelomeningocele is the severe form of dysraphism more commonly involving the lumbosacral region but can occur anywhere along the neuraxis. It is covered by thin layer of partially epithelialized tissue and remnants .
