Acute myeloid leukemia
This rare leukemia in children occurs 5:1000000. Certain genetic
disorders predispose to it e.g. trisomy 21, Diamond-Blackfan anaemia and Fanconi
anaemia. Typically it presents with anaemia, fever, bleeding, hepatosplenomegaly.
A localized mass of leukemic cells (chloroma) may develop at any site as seen
in this child. With aggressive therapy the cure rate is 30-40%.
